LG Launches US$49 Android Smartphone

LG demonstrated the company's new Android Smartphone with a price tag of US$49 at the CTIA (Cellular Telephone Industries Association) show held in San Francisco, according to an October 7, 2010 report by the EE Times. Dubbed LG Optimus S, the new Smartphone uses 600MHz Qualcomm chipset and features a 3.2-inch touch panel and 3.2-megapixel camera. It is reported that the Optimus S will be sold through US telecom operators Spring and T-Mobile. Spring is expected to sell the Optimus S for US$49 with a two-year contract, while the price of T-Mobile is yet to be announced.
